Coming together as a family…

Camping Le Viaduc has 3 large yurts sleeping 5 or 6, for the great clan chiefs who want to gather their tribes. They come from Kyrgyzstan, where they housed the Kazakh and Kyrgyz nomads of Central Asia.

The yurt — or “ger” — is made of a round wooden lattice frame, a layer of felt and a canvas held up by wooden poles, all painted by hand. Its roundness gives children a space to play in and adults a friendly place to relax with family or friends.

Traditionally, the round shape of a yurt evokes the vault of the sky, and the central pillars, held in particular respect, stand for the cosmic axis, the link between heaven and earth that underpins every spiritual practice.

Good to know

This is the only yurt on the campsite with its own bathroom, with a shower, a basin and a toilet. It has two separate bedrooms and Mongolian furniture. One or two cats or dogs are accepted, kept on a lead.
